Sunday 7 September 2014

Hello again and finally I have finished this quilt.  I straight lined machine quilted this one with a neutral thread.

Most of the fabrics used in this quilt top are light décor weight and linen/cotton mix.

For the backing I used a beautiful soft voile

love the horses on this one

I now have the mate to this quilt to finish. The original pattern was to make one very big quilt but I decided to halve the fabric and make two smaller quilts.  Both have 100% cotton batting.  Both quilts are 48"x65" so would look lovely draped over the end of two girls beds

More photos to come of the matching quilt once I have finished it soon.

Both quilts (as well as others) will be for sale at the Bilgola School Fete

thanks again for visiting....

Wednesday 27 August 2014

Have started two new quilts with fabrics I got at the recent quilt show in Sydney and have added a few of my own.  Instead of making one very large quilt, I decided to divide the fabrics in half and create two quilts - much easier to handle and quilt.

Both these quilts have some linen blend fabrics as well as décor weight fabrics.
For the backing I have chosen to go with a voile fabric for its softness.
More photos to come soon bye for now...

A few more projects underway, about to start and finished....

my QAYG project using fusible batting was really easy to use, loved not having to baste (my least favourite part of the process).  Quilting individual blocks and then joining them made it so much easier in the machine.

I added to backing after quilting and joining the blocks using straight line quilting to match  the front and the backing material is a lovely voile fabric.

bye for now....

At last my crazy colourful herringbone quilt is finished.  Its been a while since I did a larger quilt, but I couldn't be happier with the result.  I machine quilted it myself and chose a chocolate print fabric for the backing and binding....

Hello again I have finished my very bright and funky rainbow chevron quilt.  I decided to hand quilt this one with no 8 perle thread (love the look this qives a quilt) one of my favourite methods of quilting.

this quilt came together really quickly using 2 jelly rolls.

mini rainbow hearts for the backing of course....

pink poka dots for the binding

Photos today of some fabrics I picked up at the recent Craft and Quilt Show in Sydney.  Lots to inspire I hope and lots of future projects coming up.....

Love the soft colours ...
I see 1/2 square triangles for this lot....

Love the mix in this lot ....very cute
